The practical consequence is that a household following two competitions across different rights holders can end up paying for three services. Working out which single package covers the majority of what is actually watched is usually worth more than any individual discount.

Where IPTV fits

IPTV simply means television delivered over an internet connection, which describes both carriers' services. In everyday use the term means something narrower here: a subscription bundling a large number of live channels, usually including South Asian, Arabic and European ones, into a single monthly or yearly plan with an app.

For an expatriate household that is the entire appeal. One subscription instead of three, no installer, no long contract, and channels from home alongside the local ones. What it costs, and what to watch for

Carrier bundles put television inside a larger home plan, so the television portion rarely appears as its own decision. Standalone streaming platforms are cheap individually and add up quickly. Multi-channel IPTV subscriptions usually sit between the two and are cheaper per month when paid annually.

Add up a full year of everything the household pays for television, then divide by twelve. Most families find two services covering much the same ground.

Treat prices far below the market with suspicion, particularly where premium sport is advertised for a token fee. Those services tend to disappear, and they tend to disappear during the tournaments people bought them for.
